Records of First Church (Charlestown, Boston, Mass.), a Congregational and later Unitarian church, and Winthrop Church (Charlestown, Boston, Mass.), 1631-1980. (The First Church of Charlestown and the Winthrop Church merged in 1913). The collection consists of church records, including incorporation records, minutes and reports of the church, standing and prudential committees, vital statistics, clerks' records, deacons' records, ministers' correspondence, invitations to ecclesiastical councils, requests and recommendations for church membership transfers, and estate papers; treasurers' records including account books, records of charitable funds, pew records, reports, correspondence, and meeting warrants; building records, primarily relating to both the construction of the church building on Green Street (1847-1849) and damage caused by a 1957 fire; Sunday school records, including records of the Charlestown Female Sabbath Society; and printed materials, including church manuals, newsletters, and orders of service. Also includes records of the Bunker Hill Temperance Legion, the Winthrop Church choir, Winthrop Ladies Sewing Circle, Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor, and the Bethesda Church (Charlestown).
